The volcanic ash cloud spewed from Iceland floated into Portuguese Atlantic air space Tuesday, but appeared to pose no additional threat to snarled European air links, a senior air traffic controller said.

 Álvaro Antunes, of NAV-Portugal, said the cloud entered mid-Atlantic Azorean air space at about midnight Monday at an altitude of about 6,000 meters, well below altitudes generally used by most trans-Atlantic flights.
